Be-Up was created to facilitate opportunities for young people to acquire skills, access job opportunities and create meaningful opportunities of/for self-employment.
Be-Up is looking forward to helping more previously disadvantaged youth with their talent and skills development world to build profitable businesses that create income, opportunity and economic growth,
Be-Up was established in 1989 and up to now has adapted more than 20 African literature setwork books into films, including Bessie Head novels Maru and When Rain Clouds Gather.
In 2017 BLACK Education Upgrading (Be Up) and The City of Tshwane presented Awards to outstanding actors as part of honouring actors who took part in the the 13-part series Wa Thintha Bafazi.which was screen on Mzanzi Magic channel 161 and 164 respectively The Awards ceremony were held at the Tshwane Metro Police Academy in Pretoria on 5th September 2017
Wa Thintha Bafazi ... is believed to be the first movie in the history of film-making in the world, where by, real blind people are acting their parts including people with albinism taking part in the movie,Almost 90 percent of actors are from our (BEUP) School and by then we were not yet Accredited by cathsseta.
The series Wa Thintha Bafazi ... features talented and well-known actors so that the community and viewers can identify with the characters.There is Vusi Thanda of Emzini Wezinsizwa fame, who plays the part as a woman abuser, also taking part is four-times SABC drama best actor award winner and best scriptwriter from the South African Scriptwriters Association (Saswa) Lucky “Bra Bizza” Legodi.
The were three blind young students whoo took part in this movie namely, Aubrey Skhosana, John Melolo, and who together with Zanele Manana, who is the blind young girl from Filadelfia School for the Blind and Disabled in Soshanguve.
During the Award ceremony we also recognized the ambassador of blind people in the film industry Dr Stetve Kekana the musician as well as an International world-acclaimed guitarist, singer and poet from Mamelodi Dr Phillip Tabane who produced sound track for Muvhango soapie .
